With all the excitement, hustle and bustle of the end of year degree shows from a new breed of emerging designers and artists, I find myself amazed, incaptivated, intrigued and inspired by the work on offer. The
RCA Show 2012 failed to disappoint with the work of Fine Art and Goldsmith
Emma Montague's striking eyewear, a definite head turner. Exploring the relationship between the constructs of the jawbone and the shape and form of a sunglasses arm, saw an enchanting marriage of black horn simplicity, acetate and raw deer jawbone. The concept design amalgamates luxury and refined eloquence stripped back to reveal the raw edges of nature and decay, thus mirroring our own identities and becoming more than mere status symbols. Fragile yet edgy they are sure to surpass your average RayBan and be touted as the must have accessory by those in the know.
For the benefit of my readers I wish to inform you that all mandibles came from deer culled by
The British Deer Society and thus you can rest assured no animals were harmed in the making of these exquisite pieces.
