What better way to start my blog than with an ultimate style icon. Vien Le Wood, one of my oldest and dearest friends from across the pond is I think you will agree the definitive queen of style. Not a slave to trends, but a definite trend setter ahead of the rest. She is a creator of her own identity; alike no other, yet recognisable to her followers. Her unique take on fashion, the ability to put an eclectic mix of styles, brands and charity finds together in such an interesting way, is an art form in itself. Taking reference from culture and her own environment her ideas transform and manifest themselves beautifully and seemingly effortlessly. Chic yet savvy; beautifully different; dazzling to observe; Vien Le crafts, knits, strips and remoulds clothing to make even the blandest garment a feast for the eye. And the story doesn't end there... Oh no, for Vien Le's talents don't just manifest in her own attire, she is a remarkable print and embroidery designer in her own right. Trained at Northumbria University and Glasgow School of Art; with Anthropologie and Rebeca Taylor to her name, she was also awarded the ‘Fashion At Belsay’ fellowship commissioned by English Heritage and the Arts Council of England, which saw her exhibited alongside fashion designers: Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Paul Smith, Eley Kishimoto and Zandra Rhodes as well as being showcased in Selfridges.
